Sewing Notions Organization

One last project in my Organize January. Man, it’s felt good to get things organized. One drawer in my desk holds miscellaneous sewing supplies. My original thought was that it would hold bobbins, pins, the project that I’m currently working on (as if there is only one at a time, ha!), things that need to be readily accessible. What it has become is a dumping ground for things that I don’t seem to want to take the time to organize appropriately. So, I organized it.

Where do I actually store my sewing notions, you might ask? In a vintage Samsonite suitcase that I’ve decorated and refurbished. Where else?

Quite a while ago, I ripped out the insides, relined it with oilcloth, held it together with glitter hot glue, and filed it with little labeled tubs to hold different notions. I wish that I could have things more on display, but that will come someday in the future, and I can be patient until then.

And when I put everything away where it belongs, this is what’s left in the drawer. How fabulous! (Anyone want to place bets on how long before it’s mess again?)

That’s a great idea! I love the idea of putting everything in a decorated suitcase. Your whole month of organizing has been very inspiring to me – I can’t wait to get into my new place and begin putting everything where it belongs!
