Description

This simple cardigan for a young baby (0-3 months) is a modern interpretation of traditional fair-isle patterns.

The cardigan is knit in the round, bottom up and includes a steeked front. Sleeves are knit in the round separately, joined to the body at the underarm, and the yoke is knit in the round with decrease stitches giving it a raglan-like fit.

The original color palette was inspired by the New Mexico desert, but the pattern has blank spaces so that you can easily pick your own selection of colors.

Gauge is: 34 stitches and 38 rows = 4 inches in stranded stockinette stitch

You will need:

  • 1 skein each of 6 colors of fingering yarn
  • size 2 16″ circular needles
  • size 2 double point needle set
  • crochet hook or sewing machine for steeks
  • stitch markers
  • yarn needle
  • 6 buttons

This pattern is for the intermediate to advanced knitter. It assumes that you already know how to:

  • knit stranded
  • read a color chart
  • read a knitting pattern
  • work steeks

For more information about the pattern, check it out on Ravelry or read the blog post I wrote about it.

This is for the purchase of a digital pattern in pdf format. You will receive an email with a link to the download. You have one week to complete your download.
